The Encaustic Medium consists of damar resin and high-grade naturally bleached beeswax and yields a hard, shiny and translucent finish.

 

  • This is a CLEAR and transparent medium that consists of naturally bleached beeswax.
  • It is the key component to the encaustic process and is used as a base coat (primer), clear paint or can be mixed with Artists' Grade Pigments to create a colored encaustic paint.
  • The Encaustic Medium is also valuable for many mixed media techniques.
  • The Encaustic Medium should be melted at  90-100 degrees celsius and kept melted during the painting process.

 

WHITE

 

The White Encaustic Medium consists of damar resin and naturally bleached beeswax that is then mixed with a natural mineral and white pigment to create a thick, dense medium.

 

  • The white panel allows for colors to reflect their true value if used as the final primer.
  • The white medium is versatile as it can be used as an undercoat during the encaustic priming process and also as a painting medium that can be used to tint color pigments.
  • The Encaustic Medium is also valuable for many mixed media techniques.
  • The Encaustic Medium should be melted at 100 degrees celsius and kept melted during the painting process.
